Juno the grey kitten!

Saturday, June 27th, 2009

We rescued Juno in west Oakland. He must be around 4 weeks old, but has moved in well to his new home already. I am just glad I was able to take him in-I know we saved his little life! If you see a homeless cat or dog help it out! Check out this site:

Scanning old images to make them new again!

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

The other day I was looking for an image that I took in Australia so I can print it and put it up on my wall as a piece of art! My walls are lacking art and between my husband and I-we have a ton of art. It is all just in boxes and portfolios or sitting in a folder on the computer-so sad. Anyways this image was taken with film and since I started my love of photography in 1995, I have a lot of film strips and slides that again just sit in boxes.

I have decided to take action! I am going to pull an image from this 14 year build up of negatives and turn them into positives. I will need to purchase a scanner, something I have been meaning to do, as I will hopefully always shoot some film, but once I do, I will be scanning one image every day. Until then I will be posting a scan a week and I will give some business to some local labs and rental shops-which I am sure they are desperately in need of. So here is my first scan! It is taken back in 1999 of the Joshua Tree National Park in CA. I have gone there a few different times, but this time was magical and I explored the environment with my then boyfriend, Jason (now my husband) with my 35mm canon AE1 and some color infrared chromatic film! Aaawww the photographic memories! Enjoy!

A few headshots from some recent shoots!

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

I did three shoots for my thesis project in May, but at the end of each shoot I decided to take my subjects outside or away from the set and just get some useable headshots that they could use to promote their acting careers. While I am in school, I have doing a lot of trades with people and it has been great for my project. Thanks Kimberly, Misty and Mero!

Still Life shots of Fabric

Sunday, June 7th, 2009

I took these shots for a designer at work so she could pitch a new line of books we hope to be doing at C & T Publishing in the future. The books will be more photo-based with simple text and illustrations to convey how to make wonderful fabric based projects. Yeah-it was fun! I love it when creativity and work get mixed together, so you forget your working! The concepts are just based around color,  texture and sewing-pretty simple!

How Weird Festival Favorites

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009

Hey Everyone!
For anyone that does not know about the How Weird festival on Howard St. in San Francisco -well these pictures should sum it up-plus of course the several stages of various styles of dance music. These shots came about due to a being at the right place at the right time, a kind stranger and his son-thanks Kevin and Justin, and pure determination! I had been shooting another model all day and was about to leave the city-back home to Concord-no how weird fest there! But I turned around when I saw the festival and hoped that I would be able to get all my gear to a good spot and attendees would be interested in getting a photo taken by a stranger! My plan worked-ha ha ha. It was so much fun getting these shots and everyone was so open and fun in front of the camera! I am definitely going back next year-at least to dance! To all my subjects-you really were stars on the red carpet-so hot!  The festival was on May 10, 2009.

Check out more pics from the shoot on my Flickr page.

Thanks! Christina
